Already counting down the days until you can throw on your swimsuit, sip on a nice cold beverage and soak in some serious Vitamin D? Well, you’re not the only one!
Every year the summer days go by in an instant! So why not make it really count by checking out some of these amazing cities that are well-known for their summer scenes.
Portland, Oregon
PortlandOregon
The weirdest place on earth — known for its slogan “Keep Portland Weird”, this beautiful Pacific Northwest city will steal your heart instantly. In a city filled with some of the nicest hipsters on bikes, the best way for you to enjoy it is by renting one yourself. In fact, it’s the best way for you to explore this fun city! Don’t be surprised if you find yourself pulling over at a funky thrift store, a hip food truck, or one of the many award-winning restaurants. Remember to grab some treats from the infamous VooDoo Doughnuts before wandering through one of the largest used bookstores in the world, Powell’s City of Books.
New York
NewYork
The city that never sleeps — New York will have you swooning at any time of the year, but summer is really special. The energy in this city is more than enough to make you want to stay. A good advice would be for you to come with an open stomach, as this city has some of the best food for you to feast on. With rooftop bars, outdoor movies, Shakespeare in Central Park, beaches just a train ride away, and free weekly music events … New York is a MUST.
Austin, Texas
AustinTexas
The land of all things music —  If you are into music festivals, especially ones like SXSW, then Austin, Texas is the place for you! You’ll be able to immerse yourself in the various water activities available. Whether you’re paddleboarding on Lady Bird Lake or splashing into the giant year-round 70-degree spring-fed Barton Springs, fun will always follow. Don’t forget to stock up on your vintage pieces and eat as many tacos as you can possible enjoy. Complete your trip by visiting the home of the largest bat colony in North America, Congress Bridge. Between Spring to early Fall, about 1.5 million bats call this place home — a definite sight not to be missed!
Seattle, Washington
SeattleWashington
The city that gets teased for its rainy weather — Seattle’s best kept secret is definitely its summer shine. Like a caterpillar transforming into a beautiful butterfly, Seattle enjoys flaunting itself during this time of the year. With temperatures between 70 to 80°F, you’ll love being outside exploring this city from dawn to dusk. Known for its coffee scene, you won’t have a hard time finding the coffee of your choice — but be sure to visit the first ever Starbucks in Pike’s Place Market. While you’re there buy a beautiful bouquet of flowers for only $5 and watch the fishmongers reel in their fresh catch of the day — if you’re lucky, you might even get chosen to participate! You can also spend the day sunbathing at Gasworks Park that overlooks the city skyline as sailboats and paddleboarders drift by on Lake Union. If there’s time, hop on a quick ferry ride to some of the surrounding islands for stunning sights of the Puget Sound and Mount Rainier.
Now that you know some of the best summer cities to visit, it’s time for you to plan ahead and look forward to having a great summer adventure!
