Nothing compares to thefreedom of the wide, open road: endless options and a timeline of your own.This summer, pack your travel gears and get ready for a renewed version of America’s favorite pastime with theseamazing road tripdestinations.

Cruise Through Creole Country
Sample culture-rich cuisine, jam out tolive jazz music, and tour the swamps by airboat as you navigate through the otherworldly roads of the Bayou. Before heading East from Houston, Texas, stop by Hugo’s for a proper Tex-Mex meal.
As trees get denser, keep your eyes peeled forwildlife off the road, but don’t forget to make an obligatory stop in Vacherie, Louisiana to tour Oak Alley Plantation. Yourdestination in New Orleans will be a trip on its own. Go on spooky cemetery tours, try your hand at a cooking class, or spend your nights boogie-ing down to live jazz music.

Go Yonder to Yellowstone
Start your journey in the friendly and cleanSalt Lake City, Utah, then make a pit stop at Temple Square forsome photos before heading towards Idaho Falls, but not before stopping by Rigby and Driggs for a taste of old pioneer culture.
Go through Jackson, Wyoming to get to Grand Teton National Park. You cancamp,hike or simply enjoy the spectacular view of the Jackson Hole. After that, make your way to the famousYellowstone National Parkto witness the magnificent geyser. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able tospot buffalos in their natural habitat. Do not pass up a chance to test-taste anything and everything Huckleberry before leaving the area. Lastly, head South to your last stop – the Dinosaur National Monument.

Bop Around the Florida Keys
If you are craving forturquoise waters, tropical eats and bikini weather, take the long but breathtaking drive from mainlandFlorida to Key West. The road itself is a marvel as you’ll be crossing large stretches of water dotted with faraway islands on this Overseas Highway. Begin your trip in Key Largo – thedive capital of the world – and parking at John Pennecamp State Park for some beach activities.
Then, head south and catch your own dinner in the sportfishing capital of Islamorada. After that, visit the ten-mile long town of Marathon, where you can buy yourself an ice-cold coconut before traveling across the picturesque Seven Mile Bridge that leads toKey West. Once you’ve arrived, indulge in everything key lime. There are lots of kitschy shops around to be explored, but perhaps one the most iconic landmarks to visit in Key West is Ernest Hemingway’s abode.

The Colorado River Route
Begin driving atDenver, Colorado and head west on I-70 through a snake-like Rocky Mountain before reaching Glenwood Springs – ahot-spring destination with a cute town to match. Follow the Colorado River south towards the red-rock playground of Moab, Utah and Arches National Park resides.
From here, head to where the Colorado River becomes Lake Powell and rent a houseboat to navigate through the coves and vastness of the lake. The mighty river will then lead you to theGrand Canyon where you can ogle at one of thebiggest holes on the Earth before heading to the man-made marvel of the Hoover Dam. End your trip inLas Vegas, or try an alternative option by staying in the hipster-haven of Downtown Vegas on Fremont Street.

Live on the Edge on The Pacific Coast Highway
The Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is perhaps one of the most famous roads in the world. It’s best to start thisepic road trip inSeattle – thecity of aromatic coffee and thegrand Mount Rainier. Starting your journey in the North means you’ll be driving on the ocean-side lane with the most magnificent view.
Then, wind your way through thewindy and wooded Oregon coast. Don’t forget to look upwards and marvel at thegiant Redwood forests as you drive by. Once you’ve arrived atSan Francisco, fill up your tummy on those scrumptious clam chowder and oysters before heading down the coast to some of the most charming towns in America. Stop by Carmel by the Sea, San Luis Obispo andSanta Barbara before you reach your final destination, Los Angeles.
